2.5.10: Yes we are still here... alive and quite well thanks, with this to share: The Dragon, and this: Vintage King Dragon Page.
The first 25 have shipped to rave reviews... not sure why the "photo" is but an illustration... nevertheless in "the flesh" it is quite arresting.
A most tardy site redesign is in the pipeline, and much more hand-grasped SE Analog is humming just beyond the stage door. We promise...

8.18.08: THE REAL ORION GALAXY DESIGNER!
The visual designer of the Orion Galaxy and its sextacular Space Case, Antoine de Castellane - the real Argentieres - is the quintessential modern renaissance man: visual artist, musician, producer, designer, and successful business man. As he often uses pseudonyms for his various projects, we decided to first refer to him as Antoine Argentieres, unfortunately resulting in a near google-blackout of his true identity; fortunately discoverable on myspace: myspace.com/antoinedecastellane
BTW, Tim Caswell is not a merely a "boutique amp designer", but rather Studio Electronics' co-founder and head hardware and software designer; responsible for the entire S.E. product line.
7.26.08: THE ORION GALAXY OMEGA 8!
what is this? it is art. it is light. it is glorious design brought to life by Antoine
Argentieres, the man, who sagely let his fondness for Stanley Kubrick's past century enigmatic
odyssian vision of the future (and re-visioning of pivotal past events) inspire a house fit
for the majestic voice and verve of the Omega8––a cathedral of transformation; the great work
of the synth; a mind before matter mystical alignment of awareness: light and sound waves that
reveal the ORION GALAXY, expanding and growing and luminous.

omega C.O.D.E specs; new "2008" sound bank; space
and light show for the Star Child in all of us. available now for those who "have the greatest enthusiasm
and confidence in the mission."
3.05.08: BME - BLACK MUSIC ESSENTIALS PATCH BANK FOR THE OMEGA!
From the "Why Haven't We Done this Before" file we bring you da "BME": solid gold recreations of classic 70's and 80's (and some 90s) Disco, Funk, Rock-Funk, Hiphop & R 'n' B analog cookin' grease.
Think Stevie Wonder's brilliant bass and lead alchemy, Herbie Hancock, Gary Wright, E.W.F., Dazz Band, Bar-Kays, Gap Band, The Time, "Freak Show", "The Message"; lead wigglin', filter-sweepin', stabs a poppin', groove's a lockin', percolatin' bass-boomin' booty-bouncin' synthesized INSANITY! O.G. Hiphop synth "standards" included for the same low, low price. The square-wavy ARP 2600 bass patches alone make trippin' the sounds fantastic.
Yo, koo new spin and cognitive FX 'round out this truly essential Soul Music bank. Grease up your mod and pitch wheels Party Train People; you're gonna to need 'em where you're goin' with this beast (burbs of D.C. slang, sorry) patch bank (C.O.D.E. and CS-80 filter friendly). Special Spring Break Pricing!
3.05.08: SALVATION PADS: NEW PAD-BASED PATCH BANK FOR THE OMEGA!
Get off to a cool vintage start with a few lead patches (appetizers before main)--some inspired by my brief stint in Dubai (and elsewhere) as Kanye West's Stage Manager and Backline guru/grunt--and then feast on this sumptuous offering of hand-matched Roland SH-7, Oberheim OB-8, ARP Solina/String Ensemble, Yamaha CS-80, Mellotron, Elke/Crumar/Farfisa polyphonic vitals--B3 with Leslies in full effect, and a holiday of strings.
Of course we broke some new analog ground as well and threw in a smattering of shimmering, slithering, simmering FX (C.O.D.E. and CS-80 filter friendly). Exceptional Spring Break Pricing!
3.05.08: REWORKED & REVITALIZED FACTORY PATCHES!
Tasty overflow from "Salvation Pads" and "B.M.E." spice up life for the factory set and you...
3.05.08: SPANKIN' NEW OMEGA & C.O.D.E. OS!
You'll have to ask GSR what's new in "Fix-land"... 2.09.08: WE REMEMBER BRIAN
(please click for tribute)
Analogians,
Our dear friend Brian Scroggins' gallant struggle against multiple brain tumors ended this past Saturday, and I've been a wreck since finding out last night from his lovely wife––who tried to comfort me! Could I begin to tell you what a fine man this beloved husband and father of 3 was? Perhaps, but his brand of magic defies eulogies. Souls such as Brian's––shared with us mere mortals––are best equated with sunrises, kisses from mom, and a child's first steps. He was (and still is) the kind of man I'm told my maternal grandfather and 1st gen. Italian American hero, Carmine (the last "e" isn't silent) Capretta was: one who never raised his voice in the home, provided well for his family, embraced all people... that was Brian: old-world, old-faith love. Brian's Scroggins Synquence bank for the SE-1X, 303 bank for the ATC, and programming contributions to the CADIX bank for the C.O.D.E. are nothing short of genius. The "beats" he produced for the ANALOGIA PROJECT CD for EMU have no equivalents. We co-wrote songs and invented noises for the Proteus 2000; we labored together at the S.E. booth at summer NAMM shows; we were fast friends from jump street; we enjoyed the guilty pleasure of selected Phil Hendry skits; we collaborated on "Robot" cues for Propaganda Games (hear some of 'em here) we uplifted each other in faith and love––mainly with laughter, and never was there a grumpy or unkind word between us. Nothing invaded our fun; our friendship.Brian was loyalty itself; a life-lover who never wavered; a big strong, bright, beat-boxin' kid you wanted in your corner. How am I going to...I'm devastated but thankful for the opportunity to have created and rejoiced in God with my treasured, luminous friend and brother in the faith; and my twin brother Greg feels the same.
If any of you desire more of the story or would like to assist his widow and tender-aged children, please hit up the urls below to support and share. Every little bit helps... God is love. One Love. Riposi In Pace Brian; Sogni d'oro, mio fratello! You will be remembered and loved long after this heart returns to dust.
Thanks S.E. people for the read and if you're the praying type... Scroggins Children Fund Flicker...
6.29.07: MINI BANK FOR THE OMEGA!
Sub Bass patches and External Input processing templates dive down deep and open up the auto-triggering/locked to MIDI clock secret world of the possible... a real GEDUNK even for the NON-QUAL. ;-)
6.7.07: BANKS 5&6 FOR THE "REDEYE" SE1-X!
If you own and SE-1(X) you will feel these two new sound banks: sounds that will get you in a creative and focused mode quickly. Make sure you lock all of the doors and windows and water the plants first; it could be a long night into morning.
4.01.07: C. O. D. E. "CADIX" BANK!
Expect Ambrose Bierce-like Pads, synthetik perkussive Drum noizes, fathoms deep Subs, and fulgent eventful FX with this new bank of CODE-filtered Omega programs, co-designed by "Cool Cat" and vanguard Omega owner Catero Colbert (we're happy to repor). 3.23.07: C. O. D. E. DEMO Uploaded!
No more late nights dedicated to 100.25 bpm ... have to find a new tempo. Nothing left unvarnished in this mix of CODE-fIlterboxed brilliant El Grecco/ModMax guitars, voices/vocals/vocoders, and early to mid–what the he@#, throw in the late–'70s Peter Cetera inspired SE-1X bass walk-ups and dives. Did I imply that the aforementioned basses were "filtered"? They weren't and didn't need it; although now that I think about it... WAIT! I "can stop now", and will. 2.19.07: C. O. D. E. - SYNTH/FILTERBOX MASTERSTROKE!
One part 2-4-6-8 Omega, one part NOVA MUSIK fresh take. Exciting externalized Filterbox tweaking–think dedicated knobs–with a handy "Filter Control Section" allows one to (improper use of colon dead ahead): • Sweep through all the filter types in real time. • Increase or decrease the filter frequency. • Increase the envelope amount. • Increase the resonance amount. • Filter ENV Delay. • Invert the filter envelope. • "CUT" Filter Decay. • Works on the CODE synth engine or external input.
Impressive no? A pure and wholesome sine wave for OSC 1 (as opposed to the rather brassy triangle the stock Omega sports) brings the round: man that wave is as smooth as a Ms. Jay Z vocal & video–who knew the lack of harmonics could be so satisfying. 8 voice distortion mode, delectable "CADIX" bank '07 sound set featured along with the euro-fabulous "THERIOT" bank, and, and... what else... of course, the look! 8 layer silk-screen front-panel represents style and the season of the code-breaking 40's, with a font selection that would make an historian happy; the NAVAHOs too. The process was painstaking but the results... it has to be inhaled to be fully appreciated. The demo featuring processing prowess of the new box, and its marvi sound sets is to be birthed no later than tonight; that is if my back holds out. Don't miss it... 9.12.06: NOVA EDITION ATC-Xi!
Can't buy the first one 'cause Snoop (D, O, double G) was the first to the gate, but you can still get
all the features of the original ATC-X, and late '06 minted bumps on your smart icey "xi" purchase. And what are they you ask? These: Sine Wave generator on OSC 1; Switchable amps–choose between ATC-X, or classic SE-1X "Moog" amp.; New Artic-flavored grill. Dependable STUDIO ELECTRONICS audio and build quality are the constants here, and u know the "QUAD" comes pimped with all 4 filters: MINI, S.E.M., 303 and 2600 Filters which you cannot function without, clearly! 5.31.06: FRED FALKE DEMO!
I Love the relentless bassline, anthemic horizon stretching chords, and gentle bells coloring this offering of "Uplifting synth driven funky bassline French house heaven!" from our friend and generous Omega track contributor Fred Falke... 5.11.06: CASWELL AMPLIFICATION!
THE MOD THAT MATTERED–CASWELL SPEAKS: "When interest was rekindled in the 1980’s Marshall mods that I developed when I worked at SIR LA, I was able to find the diagram of #39 that I drew when I first built it. On later mods..." Tim knows guitar amps and can play like a fiend–stop by his new site for more juice. 5.10.06: NOVA EDITION SE-1X!
Commemorating the production and sale of 3,000 SE-1(X)s has inspired this "Limited Edition X-Model with NEW Amp Overdrive for Saturated "Fuzz", Ultra fast ADSR for ultimate SNAP, Expanded wide range Filters, NEW added SINE WAVE GENERATOR ..." Nice box my peoples. I've heard some folks just leave the fuzz switch on all the time! 5.1.06: NEW EXTERNAL INPUT OMEGA8 DEMO!
The auto-triggering external processing inputs of the Omega 8 were uncharted waters where there were beasties: "not true daddy" (my 3 year old's favorite protestation) anymore. I had no idea how expressive the big O's jack-in could be... 2.3.06: NEW DISCRETE OMEGA8––THERIOT BANK SUPERCHARGED––SE-1X, ATC-1, C2s DEMO!
What an instrument the Omega is... especially when its laced-up with the THERIOT bank, and rockin' the discrete OpAmps. This piece in an adaptation of my one and only collaboration with guitarist and sometimes friend Paul Jackson Jr. (Mr. 11,000 Google hits himself) found on his "Power of the String" CD, which I've finally posted up on the S.E. site here. We sing a little when asked... 1.3.06: POLISHED SILVER OMEGA PANELS!
Bling in the new year with this glossy new face-plate for your Omega 8 purchase. Greg St. Regis knows all: 310-648-3546. Riveting & fresh praise to peruse in our "User Praise" forum (how appropriate) starting today! Impressive '06 Celebs also headline here! 8.10.05: C2s RATIO FIX!
Doh! A wiring assembly error in the C2s grossly affects the 4:1, 8:1, and 12:1 compression ratios. It makes the C2s much more aggressive than originally designed. Once corrected, the same swell sound will still be there, but it will perform with the proper response. This error mars all units from start of production to May of 2005–don't ask how we didn't catch it, as we're not sure ourselves. The fix is quite simple however, with no soldering required; details will be posted on the site in the next week. You're also welcome to call me (Greg) at 310.640.3546 for voice activated instructions. 8.09.05: NEW OMEGA OS!
2.4 and 2.4c were infested by a MULTI bank nuisance, that prevented one from editing the multi-timbral layouts. Now if only someone had noticed.... 7.31.05 PRICES SLASHED ON THE CS-80 FILTER 4 THE OMEGA!
$150.00 for the single shot; $1200.00 for the 8 pack. Original detail here. 7.19.05: DISCRETE OMEGA 8 OP AMPS!
Discrete opamps (nice) for the beast's stereo and mono outputs–a 5534 opamp IC does the job now–can bring that boutique clarity and purity to your active Omega lifestyle.
7.18.05: M I D I M I N I A F Y MOD UPDATED! Want that spongy, rubbery amplifier depth the SE-1 and the MIDIMINI posses? And a true sine wave–like the Mini–from Oscillator 1 for your ATC, or Omega Series Synth? DONE. "...put the peddle to the metal and burn rubber...." on 'em with this serious VCA and waveform upgrade for the Analog Tone Chameleon (1 or X Model), and Large Chassis Omegas. Be "for real"; make Uncle Charlie proud. 6.20.05: ATC-X BASS & BOOTY BANKS! BASS GREASE! Very infectious bass grease. Search no more through the 512 ATC patch maze for the thickness–the sounds u like, that consistently elevate your tracks; they now share the same zip code. An introductory price of $95.99 is being offered in STORE for 8 weeks only. After the grace has expired the bass banks will be sold separately from the leads, perc., and FX for $69.00. We're talking 512 hand sorted, polished, and 50% (at least) phresh faire phanatically phretted-over SE PREMIUM QUALITY ATC-X SOUNDS HERE! When the basses "came up" so did the leads, perc., and FX. What can I say, perfection and soul must not be found wanting in all.
6.10.05: POWER OUTAGE/SITE DRAMA!
The rudesters at Network Solutions somehow found it impossible to warn of us of impending doom. Perhaps is had something to do with referencing invalid SE contact records from early 2001–that were (excepting one item) updated in way back in 2002!!! And then the lying, the cover stories, the responsibility firewalls, the "...again Mr. St. Regis...."tv journalist fluff lingo. But I digest my soul too much; important points to address: "propagation" to all servers will consume the better part of 24 hours and as of right now the ONLINE STORE IS STILL DOWN!
Deep breaths... Please refer all purchase concerns to 310-640-3546, or 818-776-1733, or, store@studioelectronics.com. Thanks and sorry for the black-out....
5.20.05: OLD SCHOOL STUDIO ELECTRONICS RACKMOUNT CLASSICS RETURN! "Harvey" 808s, P5s, a new TR-909 rack (minus its sequencer), OBIE RACKs, and even OB-8s (I think) are back in the fold! Give Greg St. Regis a hollah @ 310-640-3546 during regular business hours, and get the love of your life–OK it has nothing to do with him slash her–that piece you were convinced would never see the light of eBay.
5.20.05: NEW ATC-1 and ATC-X OS! Finally, edits made by an external controller to the original flavor "1" and the X-Model are savable! 3 cheers for Tim Caswell!
4.29.05: NEW 2.4 OMEGA 8 OS! Mac PC or Mac OS X
A day late and dollah short: regular filter strength Omega 8 2.4 OS... 4.28.05: NEW 2.4c OMEGA 8 OS! Mac PC or Mac OS X
Finally 2.4c OS links for CS-80 filter users: when the "CS-80" filter type is selected,
the text in the external input page window reads "HP resonance" and "HP frequency" as opposed to "mix" and "trigger", making tweaking that mad dual resonant filter intelligible and man-friendly. The balance of humanity deprived of that magnificat of a filter can deploy this upgrade as well - you'll have to, lovers of thick 'n sick sound, cause I fried the OS 2.4 ROM chip cradling that code. Steam not. These near twin Omega 2.4 OSes of El Segundo are the same in every other aspect; I will post the impoverished OS tomorrow: base gods of statik willing. 02.05.05: Winter NAMM '04/'05 Demo Uploaded!
Midi synced L.F.O.
ear candy and more... 12.23.04: OMEGA 8 TUNE-UP!
VCA envelope "SNAPPIFICATION" has arrived for the Omega (the SE-1X was first out the gate) "...bringing MIDIMINI-like attack transients to the game...." Other significant hardware and software upgrades detailed on this "TUNE-UP" page could change the world AS WE KNOW IT. Contact us today if you own (read adore) your Omega 8 and want to be certain your box is rocking the most potent updated kit. 12.17.04: NEW OMEGA 8 PATCHES!
What I heard a numbskull sock-mouthed west coast American FM rock DJ say 'bout an early '90s David Bowie record release: "His long overdue absence...." comes to mind when pondering how long it took to bring these patches to market;<) Man, my brain is beat! All those timed pan settings; the quadrupled-up modwheel destinations; the tricki cross-mod values; shaking big fat sticks at the evil spirit called "Overwhelmed"... I'M DONE PEOPLE! And pleased, very. Now it's your turn to enjoy them; at least that is my sincerest hope. As to the programming aesthetic followed: some Scroggins-esque timed L.F.O.s influences get it started, and from there the approach is decidedly Euro–West Coast Euro that is; translation: hard edges much of the time, with depth, dimension and SOUL. Get your feet wet with the 9 free samples and then pick up all the juice here Analogians.
MSR outage. 11.19.04: Two new SE T-shirt designs (scroll to bottom of Accessory page)!
"Monster Design" strength and a more subdued front art only, more slim-fitting T, sporting a "45 RPM insert"-styled SE logo are now available for general consumption in our SE STORE. Wear us; demonstrate STUDIO ELECTRONICS pride and prejudice. Newsflash: New Omega 8 patches are beginning to percolate from the lab... stay tuned Peoples. 11.10.04: CS-80 FILTER OPTION AVAILABE NOW!
$219.00 for a single filter, and $1600 for an 8 voice compliment. Brilliant boxiness on the low-end–thanks to its high-pass component–can be achieved, in addition to a very muscular midsection tone. I still have my CS (in pieces, sadly) and this docking-bay boost of "CS-80 specific characteristics" is perfect for the brassy; the "Village Ghetto land" cellos; the poor man's "GX-1" vibration yearning to be expressed in all of us who remember refrigerator sized, "Yamaha Electone" organ-based synthesis from the platform sneaker 1970's. I used to play those wonderful, woodgrained, still cocktail-era, "Minipops" fitted, drawbar-free (better left to the Bs), black felt ribbon pitch arpeggiating monsters on the sidewalk in front of the "Yamaha Music Store" where my parents toiled (and would eventually co-own) in San Francisco: 157 Geary St. to be exact... what a crowd there was! And even if my nostalgia predates the birth of your father, you need to consider these filters playa: expensive (perhaps) but massively effective tone colorers they are.
11.08.04: THE DESIGNER SPEAKS–uh–PLAYS!
Todd Wolfgram brings some much needed "CHAOS" pedal programming, and serious guitar wizardry to the SE stompbox .mp3 demo fold... 10.26.04: OMEGA 8 "SNAPPIFICATION"!
Greg St. Regis knows all, sees all on this. Hit him up (310-640-3546; email). it is well worth the time and $ investment. Sometimes these usergroups links don't–try 'em twice. That seems to do the trick for me. 10.25.04: SE-1X "SNAPPIFICATION"!
Turns out the SE-1(X) was capable of MIDIMINI-like envelope snappiness after all. A resistor regulating, er, something needing regulating on the computer board... 10.24.04: NEW SE-1X OS!

Pictures of the new ModMax pedals, among others, will appear in

rules to add Color and Context to the Sound and Fury of the
game. Try to forgive. Throbbing and bobbing Scroggins
Synquence sounds abound. Look forward to seeing many of you
at Winter NAMM - got some sizable surprises in store. 12.05.02: ATC
vs. Waldorf Pulse Sir Tony Black/CraZ illuminates the many: "I am not the person to tread on anyone's toes deliberately..
but honestly, comparing a Waldorf Pulse (which can definitely stand
its own ground) to an ATC is quite ridiculous indeed. It's not in
the specs.. it is the S O U N D... I cannot stress this enough.
Everywhere we take the ATC, peoples' jaws get in the way of our
precious stage-space.. they are amazed, baffled, dumbfounded.. as
they scream "what's that amazing, powerful sound ?!!"
11.22.02: Omega
vs. Virus C
What a thread... I must quote from a highlight:
When you compare the omega to a virus, it is like comparing a Tonka
truck to Tinker toys. when you buy a virus you are buying something
that wants to be like something. you have to pay more for the real
thing. the virus has lots of polyphony, but sounds don't compare
to the omega. analog is timeless, that digitally modeled stuff has
a ways to go. yes the omega is expensive, but let's put it this
way, you don't ever have to buy another synthesizer again. Preach
analogians! And thank you Chris P.,
Jules B., and all the rest. You're the why in what we do.
08.01.02: Dedicated to the Counter-Revolution...
It appears we have survived the "plug-in revolution" where it matters most: in HERBIE HANCOCK'S STUDIO! (incomparable is the only word that suits that master musician & composer) Thanks in no small part to my famous brother: the invariably
knowledgeable, Mr. David Hampton, Herbie remains a devoted SE-1X user.
06.17.02: ATC-X...
Imagine: all four filter types (MINI; SEM; 303; 2600)
cunningly combined into one internally mounted very affordably priced board! Throw into the mix hardware Ringmod and
Distortion circuits and you just might "find your voice" Analog Synth Votary. This new offering (and the C2s)
owes practically all of its clever attractiveness to the newest
member of the STUDIO ELECTRONICS - ANALOGIA SQUAD: the Vector Maven,
